SHIP AHOY! GOODS EN ROUTE!

Dear Backers,
As you may be aware, getting the any goods out of China just before the Chinese new year is a challenge. In addition, we are in the middle of a shipping crisis, where ports are and have been overwhelmed and short staffed due to COVID or lockdowns.
PORT CONGESTION
All ports globally are congested and have been for a while. For example, the port of Ningbo was closed down for weeks by the authorities in a bid to stifle a COVID outbreak causing a massive back-log. Similarly in the USA, the Los Angeles port has been overwhelmed since November with cues of 100s of cargo ships waiting in line.
SHIP AHOY!
In view of these challenges, it was difficult to get our sharpeners on to ships. There was a high risk of being bumped off last minute, which is why we have waited to provide this update. However, we believe that the latest information from our shipping agent is reliable.
Our sharpeners are on ships and on the way! Ship ahoy!
At this point it is difficult to provide a reliable ETA for these locations, but one should count about 45 days.
USA
All sharpeners heading for the USA, managed to board ONE APUS which sailed on 26th January. She is currently south of Japan and is heading for the Panama Canal.
Due to the back-log at LA port, she has been routed around the USA to off-load outside New York. From New York, it will be sent by train to our warehouse in Tennessee.
The sharpeners for the Rest of the World, have been sent by truck to our Hong Kong warehouse. However, due to the Chinese New Year the warehouse staff have been off and are likely to be back in the next couple of weeks. Once back we will get a confirmation of the stock being loaded and recorded. We can then start dispatching.
DELIVERY ESTIMATE
At this point it is difficult to provide an exact estimate for deliveries, but we still think that end of March is realistic for most backers. We will provide a further update when we have more information.

We hope that you have had an excellent Christmas holiday and wish you all a happy new year!
READY FOR INSPECTION
We good news regarding the production. All sharpeners were finished on time. We passed all our Electrical certification tests for CE, UK CE, ROTHS and ETL etc. We are now waiting for the final quality inspection, which is performed by our own inspector Mr Smith on site.

We have been working hard to finalize the packaging design. Below is a draft of the proposed packaging design.

PRODUCTION
The factory advises that production is on schedule for 10th January 2022.
AUSTRALIA & NZ
We have good news for all Australians and New Zealanders. The factory has agreed to make an exception to the minimum quantity restriction and will be able fit the TYPE I plug for all AUS & NZ orders. We will make this adjustment ourselves based on the shipping address, so you do not need to take any further action.

CATRA TEST REPORT AND PRODUCTION START

CATRA TEST REPORT!
The CATRA test report confirmed the excellent results from the last test. That is reassuring!
PRODUCTION START
We have placed the final order of production. The estimated date of completion is 10th of January 2022. This means that we will be able to ship out before the Chinese new year.

TOOLING COMPLETED! NEXT STEPS

TOOLING COMPLETED
We have thrilling news. The tooling for our Diamond Electric Sharpener has been completed and we subsequently have our first pre-production sharpener. The result is as expected and everything is to plan. We are pleased with the result this far.

NEXT STEPS - CATRA TEST
The samples have been sent to our London offices for evaluation and we hope to receive them next week. We will run another CATRA test to make sure that the cutting angle and cutting results are as excellent as our previous sample and will of course share the results.
